A Passion for Haiti

What an awesome feeling when the preparation of a lifetime of faith meets up with opportunity. For Bonnie, God's call to visit Haiti was a natural one. She grew up in Haiti and has felt compelled to help out in any way that she could. Bonnie shares the following:

"I will be going to Haiti with Kids Around the World which is an organization that goes all over the world installing playgrounds.
There is a team of 44 going from all over the US. I am the only Creole speaker so I will be doing a lot of translating during the week. While the men work on the playground we will be involved in many other projects at the orphanage. The orphanage houses 80 children and there are also 1000 earthquake victims on the site as well."

Bonnie will also be taking a few days to visit Port-au-Prince with an AWANA photographer and some AWANA staff to locate and talk to the Haitian Awana missionary. Sadly, all of the Awana churches were destroyed so the team will try and get a feel for the situation there as well and see how they might help and encourage the ministry to get back on its feet.

Please pray for a hedge of protection around Bonnie and her team from Kids Around the World. Pray that God will use her in a mighty way and that conditions will be comfortable ( Bonnie and her teammates will be sleeping in tents so also pray for good weather!). Pray for Chris and the family as they spend this week of Easter without Bonnie.

Bonnie's Upcoming Trip

As many of you know, one of First Baptist Church of Dade City's own, Bonnie Williams, is traveling to Haiti this Friday to serve in any way that she can amidst the destruction of recent events. She will be e-mailing updates and photos to us and we will load them on this blog for you. Please continue to keep Bonnie in your prayers and check back often for updated information regarding her progress.
